Last night Kimbo Slice matched up with James Thompson at EliteXC Primetown.  The event took place at the new Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, and was featured live on the first ever CBS Saturday Night Fights.  In the past Kimbo’s professional fights lasted no longer than 43 seconds, that being a devastating Knock Out delivered by Kimbo, bringing the legendary UFC fighter Tank Abbott to his knees.

But last night’s fight was different… Unlike past fights, Kimbo’s fight against James Thompson made it’s way into the third round.  Much like the Kimbo “Underground Fight” against UFC Sean Gannon (watch below), Kimbo was completely winded from the length of the fight.  After several close encounters on the mat which looked as if Kimbo would have his first pro loss, Kimbo pulled it together in the third round using his bread and butter striking skills to deliver several punches rocking, but not Knocking, James.  Although loosing the fight, James provided to have an iron chin.

ProElite’s Sam Caplan has announced that Kevin “Kimbo Slice” Ferguson will finally take on Tank Abbott at EliteXC’s next event in Miami Florida on February 16th 2008. The event is scheduled to air on Showtime cable at 10:00PM ET. In addition to Kimbo and Tank being the main event, Gina Carano will fight an unannounced fighter, Kyle Noke will take on hard hitting The Ultimate Fighter Television show star Scott Smith (remember, the guy who dropped Pete sell after taking a hard hit to the abs?). Additionally, James “Colossus” Thompson (Thompson is huge! Thus the nickname Colossus..  If you remember, back in July, he got dropped by Butterbean) will take on Antonio Silva.

James “The Colossus” Thompson is hella big!  6 Feet 4 inches and weighing in around 270 pounds, James Thompson is an animal!  He currently fights in Cage Rage (United Kingdom) and Pride (Japan).  In this Cage Rage fight, James Thompson takes on Eric “Butterbean” Esch.  They start off the fight with a nasty stare down and come out swinging.  Within minutes Butterbean drops James Thompson and ends the fight with a ground and pound.
