Holy Crap - Kimbo Slice and Sean Gannon Post Fight Mayhem

Saturday, November 29th, 2008

Cagepotato / Fightlinker came up with this awesome video of the post Kimbo Slice vs Sean Gannon underground fight video.  For those of you who remember, it was a controversial win that Gannon took over Kimbo during their underground fight, both fighters were completely exhausted, and well, Gannon looks beat up badly in this video.  Check it out:

Strikeforce and UFC Show Love for Each Other, But What’s the Future of EliteXC’s Fighters?

Friday, October 31st, 2008

Now that EliteXC is kaput, what’s the future of EliteXC fighters Kimbo Slice, Gina Carano and Robbie Lawler? Perhaps it’s an opportunity in the UFC, perhaps it’s an opportunity with Strikeforce. Kimbo Slice was already offered an opportunity with the UFC’s Ultimate Fighter reality TV show, but he turned it down as he thought he wouldn’t win it. Lawler’s currently talking with Dana White about an opportunity to fight with the UFC and Gina Carano, unfortunately the UFC isn’t in that game, you know, they don’t do woman’s fighting. According to USA Today, White states, “Gina Carano’s a talented fighter”… “She’s a star. She should’ve been the main event (on CBS’ last EliteXC broadcast). My thing with women and fighting is there isn’t enough good women to create a whole division. Could I do some one-off fights here and there? Yeah, but that’s not really what we do.” Maybe Strikeforce will pick her up? She’s fought with them in the past, against Elaina Maxwell back in December of 06. I’m hopeful…

As for UFC and Strikeforce showing love for each other, Dana White had this to say about Strikeforce: “I hope they do 10 million viewers next week… Have you heard me say a bad word about Strikeforce? I wish them all the luck in the world. I have nothing bad to say about guys who are running the right promotion.”

ProElite / EliteXC Promotion Is Out Of Business… What does this mean for CBS Saturday Night Fights?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Kimbo Slice will no longer fight for the ProElite / EliteXC promotion, not by choice, but simply for the fact that ProElite has gone out of business.  For those of you who don’t know the business relationship between EliteXC and ProElite, ProElite was a media company founded by the partnership of Showtime Networks and EliteXC.  After being founded, CBS joined the partnership being granted the rights to broadcast 4 EliteXC events as Saturday Night Fights.  In September Showtime Network which owned 20% in the company, wished to gain a larger and controlling portion of the company.  According to Sports Illustrated, “When those negotiations failed, said a source inside ProElite who asked not to be identified, funding dried up and the company was forced out of business.” So, folks, it looks like Kimbo Slice won’t be fighting Seth in a rematch on CBS any time soon.  Will CBS work out some deal with EliteXC along, only the future will tell.

What a Brilliant Idea - Kimbo Slice on The Ultimate Fighter

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Michael McCarthy of USA Today caught up with Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, at a Viking Studio release party for the book Fighter: The Fighters of the UFC.  Among their discussions was Kimbo Slice and his recent loss to Seth Petruzelli.  McCarthy asked Dana White about his perspective regarding the EliteXC loss, Dana replied, “I think you’re going to see him fighting at barbecues again”.  But despite this, there remains hope for Kimbo in the UFC “I wasn’t going to offer Kimbo Slice a chance to fight in the UFC — but a chance to fight his way on to Ultimate Fighter. If you want to be in the UFC, go do the reality show”  Would Kimbo be humble enough now to accept such an offer.  The money is next to nothing, but he’s sitting pretty with a fresh clean 500 G’s since his last fight.

Kimbo Slice Post Fight Interview… “I got the first black-eye of my life”

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I was hoping to hear Kimbo Slice’s perspective regarding how things went down at last night’s EliteXC Heat event in which Kimbo had his first professional loss and was publicly embarrassed loosing a fight in 14 seconds to Seth Petruzzelli.  However, a post fight interview with Kimbo was limited to a couple of words, and these are the words that ESPN was able to get out of him:

“Before tonight nobody knew who this guy [Seth Petruzzelli] was, now everybody knows who he is,” Slice said. “I have nothing but good stuff to say about him.

“You beat me in front of my family, man, that’s [messed] up. But it’s all good. And I got the first black-eye of my life.”

Seth Petruzelli Steps Up to the Plate to Fight Kimbo and Wins

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Seth Petruzelli entered EliteXC Heat tonight thinking he was fighting Aaron Rosa and was given the opportunity to fight Kimbo Slice. Some might say that this is dramatically affect the physic of a fighter, however in this case, both fighters were equally surprised. Both fighters entered the ring tonight, Kimbo with a bad ass stare down, Seth looking to have some fun as he makes jokes. Kimbo came out of the gate fast, Petruzelli backed up against the cage, threw a teap kick and a straight right at the same time bringing Kimbo Slice to the mat immediately. Kimbo completely stunted received a barrage of punches ending in a 14 second referee stoppage and the CBS anchor lady with a priceless gasping look… Youtuber’s immediately posted the Seth Petruzelli vs Kimbo Fight video online… it most likely took them only 14 seconds to upload it!

Is Kimbo a the real deal, or garbage as Dana White has been saying?

Ken Shamrock Injuried, Seth Petruzelli to Fight Kimbo Slice Tonight

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

While training today for his EliteXC fight against Kimbo Slice, Ken Shamrock sustained a laceration above his eye requiring six stitches.  His brother Frank questions what he was thinking training at such a vigorous pace to incur such an injury, but that’s not the bigger issue.  As a result of this laceration, the athletic commission has suspended him from fighting tonight.  It will be at least another 45 days before he has the opportunity to fight.  Stepping in to his place for tonight is Ultimate Fighter Contestant Seth Petruzelli.  Petruzelli has 9 professional wins and 4 losses, his last fight being a win almost one year ago at Knight Fight to Sean Sallee.

David Blaine Catches Two Punches to the Abs From Kimbo Slice

Thursday, September 25th, 2008

Now what the hell is David Blaine thinking?  As his latest stunt he decides to catch a punch to his Abs from Kimbo Slice… yeah yeah, I know what you’re thinking PR.  However, he pulled it off successfully once, and he decides to go back for some more.  This guy is too much.  But I give him props, he took it.  Not sure if any “magic” is going on here, what do you think?
