Dana White on the Bubba The Lovesponge Show Talks Fedor

Monday, February 16th, 2009

A little over a week ago a number of UFC personalities went on the Bubba the Lovesponge Show, based out of Tampa Florida, while down in Tampa for Fight Night.  Among the people on the show, including Jens Pulver, Sean Sherk, Joe Rogan, Stitch and others, Dana White had an appearance.  A interesting aspect of the conversation was Dana White’s perspective on Fedor coming to the UFC.  Dana stated over all of these years of trying to get him to come to the UFC, he has yet to meet him face to face!

For those of you who are wondering, that picture is Bubba’s wife Heather Clem.

Dana White Men’s Fitness Training Program - Video

Wednesday, December 10th, 2008

Dana White is in great shape for someone pushing 40, and as the Garv shows in this video, hs workout routine is pretty impressive.  He starts his work out by doing 3, 3 minute rounds of circling the ring, out stepping.  He follows that up with a 1 mile run in 8 minutes, then 3, 3 minute rounds of jump roping, a bench warm up for 20 reps with just the bar, then a 135lb bench, then a 225lb warm up bench, a 275lb 1 rep bench, 300lb 1 rep bench and finally a 315lb 1 rep bench at a nice pace.  He then drops down to 225lb for 14 reps and ends his workout with some abs. Skip over the Garv’s BS in the first few minutes of the video to get straight to the workout.

Dana White Talks to Kordell Stewart About Albino Gorilla Fight This Weekend

Thursday, November 13th, 2008

Dana White is a good sport, he went on ESPN yesterday to promote the UFC 91 Brock Lesnar vs Randy Couture fight this weekend.  When he showed up, his name wasn’t on the list and to make matters worse, the last time he visited ESPN, they listed him as Fred White.  He then goes into the waiting room to get prepped for the show.  As they’re working on his make up, he totally gets his balls busted by Kordell Stewart from the Ravens who talks about Kimbo (I’m sure that Dana wants to hear about this) and the Albino Gorilla, aka Brock Lesnar. As he walks around the studio he interacts with a variety of personalities who work for ESPN and he’s cool to chat about anything with anyone.  A lot of these guys don’t have a clue, yet he’s patient with them and just goes along.  I have a new found respect for Dana.

Dana White Tears Apart ProElite and Howard Stern’s Scott Ferral

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Dana White is in Chicago preparing for the upcoming UFC 90 Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote.  Dana starts off his blog by saying that it’s a great day for the sport of MMA, ProElite (CBS, EliteXC, Showtime partnership) has gone bankrupt and is out of the industry.  Dana feels that ProElite was bad for the sport, the way they were promoting the sport and such.

In addition to dropping bombs on ProElite and it’s people, Dana moves on to talk about Scotty Ferrall, a DJ on Howard Stern’s channel on Sirius Satellite .  In the past, Ferrall covered UFC events, but Dana White didn’t like the way that Scott was handling things, so he let him go.  Apparently recently on Sirius Ferrall stated that he doesn’t like MMA any longer and he’s over it.  Dana states, “Just because you’re not getting a f’ing paycheck anymore now you don’t like MMA” and then says he looks like a crackhead! Shake it up! Damn, I’m really starting to like Dana’s style…

Dana White Hates Tito Ortiz Because He’s a Jackass - Video

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Michael Landsberg of TSN (The Sports Network) fired a number of questions at Dana White, including when Kimbo will be apart of the UFC (Dana answered, when he wins a fight against someone creditable).  In addition to asking the expected Kimbo question, Landsberg also asked the unexpected Tito Ortiz Question.  “Why does everything think you hate Tito Ortiz”, Dana responds, “Because I do”… “He’s a jackass”.

Dana additionally answers the question, “Why No Women Fighting”, he responds, there are not enough good women to create a division…

What a Brilliant Idea - Kimbo Slice on The Ultimate Fighter

Thursday, October 9th, 2008

Michael McCarthy of USA Today caught up with Dana White, president of the Ultimate Fighting Championship, at a Viking Studio release party for the book Fighter: The Fighters of the UFC.  Among their discussions was Kimbo Slice and his recent loss to Seth Petruzelli.  McCarthy asked Dana White about his perspective regarding the EliteXC loss, Dana replied, “I think you’re going to see him fighting at barbecues again”.  But despite this, there remains hope for Kimbo in the UFC “I wasn’t going to offer Kimbo Slice a chance to fight in the UFC — but a chance to fight his way on to Ultimate Fighter. If you want to be in the UFC, go do the reality show”  Would Kimbo be humble enough now to accept such an offer.  The money is next to nothing, but he’s sitting pretty with a fresh clean 500 G’s since his last fight.
