The guys at American Top Team are starting to get tired of hearing Jeff Monson’s anarchy rants, so being “American Top Team”, they’ve decided to strike back with a little prank.  While some of the guys were starting their early morning work out, Jeff Monson was passed out on a mat.  The result, a good old beat down wake up call.

A lot of peeps on the sherdog forums are talking about a picture of badass Jeff Monson standing off with local authorities during a protest of the Republican National Convention (RNC). Well, as it turns out, the word on the streets is that it’s all bull. So, better yet, it’s apparently a picture from self defense seminar between Jeff and police forces… Which I totally prefer as it has a much more powerful message. Police officers working with and learning from, a tatted up mean looking badass… pretty cool.

It was recently announced that “Brawl For It All” would feature a number of big names in the MMA industry including Nick Diaz, Jeff Monson and Dog the Bounty Hunter’s Son Leland Chapman. In fact, the card is nothing like that… After a number of complaints by fighters who have been rumored to be on the card, the California State Athletic Commission has released official card and has required “Brawl For It All” to refund any tickets that were purchased under a misconception. And the official card….

I was never aware of this fight before seeing it today, back in 2002 Forrest Griffin took on Jeff Monson at WEFC 1 – Bring it On.  We all know Forrest Griffin for his work ethic, goofy sense of humor and some amazing brawls (including his amazing Ultimate Fighter Fight against Stephan Bonnar).  Jeff Monson stands out for his size (he’s jacked!) and willingness to brawl it out.  What many of us don’t know about Monson is his background (which is very interesting).  So, we posted some highlights from his wiki bio:

• Monson is a world renowned submission specialist and an ADCC Submission Wrestling World Champion.
• Monson has also had three professional boxing bouts.
• His boxing record is two wins and one draw.
• He is also a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter with a record of 23-6-0.
• He is nicknamed “The Snowman” for his performance at the 1999 Abu Dhabi Combat Club Submission Wrestling World Championship. The Brazilian fighters at the tournament gave him the nickname because he came in as an unknown but beat 4 Brazilians in a row to win the 88-98 kilogram weight class. Additionally, he’s white, compact, and getting bigger and stronger as the tournament went on.
• Monson also is known for his left wing political views and affiliations. In an interview, he explained, “I am an anarchist, someone who would like to do away with all class hierarchy in society and the institutions that promote this inequality”
• Monson has a Bachelor’s degree and a Master’s Degree in psychology.
• He has worked as a mental health professional, both in a crisis evaluation role as well as a child/family counselor.
• After initial success in Abu Dhabi and other MMA arenas, he left the professional world of psychology to devote himself full time to his MMA endeavors.
