Nate Quarry vs Tim Credeur Post Fight Picture

Monday, March 22nd, 2010

Yeah, yeah, I know, Nate Quarry fought Tim Credeur back in September of 2009, but damn, this is the first time seeing this pic and I just thought it was something that had to be posted.  With the exception of the sliced open prestitch shots, this has to be one of the top worst post fight pics. Talk about earning your money for a fight and he won….

UFC 91 Nate Quarry vs Demian Maia Fight Results

Saturday, November 15th, 2008

UFC 91 is live! Two minutes and thirteen seconds into the first round, undefeated in the UFC fighter Demian Maia, defeats Nate Quarry.  The fight didn’t last long on standing up.  Nate and Demian exchanged minimal strikes before going to the mat at which point Maia capitalized on his strength.  Demian quickly took Nate’s back and waited patiently for the opportunity to get his arm around Quarry’s neck to sink in the rear naked choke.  The opportunity became available and Demian finished the fight 2:13 into the first with a rear naked choke.  This guy’s jiu-jitsu is legit.

Basketball Company And1 Enters the MMA Industry

Friday, October 31st, 2008

The basketball company And1 has recently decided to enter the MMA industry through sponsorship.  The company will sponsor it’s first fighter this upcoming November at UFC 91.  The first fighter to be sponsored by And1 is the well deserving Nate the Rock Quarry, who received a multi-fight deal.  Nate Quarry will first wear the logo of And1 as well as Nuvasive (the medical company that developed the method used in Nate’s spinal surgery) for his match up against Demian Maia.

According to NBC Sports, Quarry stated, “On paper it almost makes no sense whatsoever. I can’t wear basketball shoes into the octagon,” Quarry said with a laugh. “But And1 believes it’s great exposure for their overall brand. They are big fans of the sport and the whole company is excited about it.”

Director of Sports Marketing for And1, Rod Keller states, “Certainly, this is a basketball brand, but we have to be willing to throw traditional logic out the door and capitalize on opportunities… More and more athletes like Steve Blake train with MMA training methods. It’s a phenomenal workout. So is there a correlation to basketball? Yes. Is it logical? No.”

Nate Quarry UFC Fight Kalib Starnes Picture

Nate Quarry Comments on myspace about his fight against Kalib at UFC 83… Kabli Released from the UFC

Monday, April 21st, 2008

On Nate’s myspace today he posted a bulletin stating that he was sorry about his fight with Kalib Starnes:

“I did what I could to finish the fight, it’s just tough when someone is running the whole time.
I’ll post a blog about the whole thing asap
Nate”

Anyone who saw the fight knows that Nate was totally picking Kalib apart and he wanted nothing to do with that fight. I don’t know if he was having trouble feeling out his distance or what, but his actions resulted in his departure from the UFC. For more information, read yahoo’s “UFC cuts Starnes after disgraceful performance”.

Pete Sell Versus Nate Quarry Fight Night Results – Will be a Video Highlight

Wednesday, September 19th, 2007

Welcome back to the UFC Nate Quarry!! Boy does Nate Quarry have some heart! It’s Nate’s first fight in 2 years, he enters the ring looking a little stiff and gains some confidence after exchanges a few punches with Pete Sell. Nate exchanges a series of punches with Pete, but doesn’t seem to be doing great damage. The two men lock up but don’t advance, so Mario Yamasaki breaks them up. At this point Nate comes out strong and starts throwing some shots, the two men have a slug fest to the end of the round. The second round Nate finds that his right kicks are landing and throws a series of leg kicks while exchanging punch for punch with Pete. Pete lands a huge shot knocking Nate down, Nate springs up immediately showing some amazing heart. The two men slug it out until the end of the round, things look dark for Nate. Nate comes out battling again in the third, I jump to my feet, Nate just knocked Pete out, pauses a second before jumping onto his opponent, lands one more solid right to the jaw while Pete is down and finishes the fight 44 seconds into the 3 round. Holy Moly, Nate Quarry has some incredible heart! Congrats to Nate and his family!

More About UFC Fighter Nate Quarry’s Life Threatening Surgery

Tuesday, September 18th, 2007

UFC.com just posted a write up about Nate “The Rock” Quarry’s agonizing back pain and how he faced a life threatening back operation. But Nate has a positive outlook on the situation:

“These are the cards I was dealt and now we’re gonna play out this hand, and in the end, I’m gonna win,” he said. “Thank God surgery is around to put things together. Some people have a very fortunate career where they don’t get injured like this. I haven’t been one of those guys, but at the same time, when I look back at my life and where I came from, I could be so much further away from where I am now. I have friends to this day that grew up very similar to the way that I did, and they’re hardcore alcoholics, have messed up family lives, are on drugs all the time, and are basically living out of their vans. And all I can say when I see them is, ‘there but for the grace of God go I.’ It could have been so easy for me – instead of having this drive to make myself something and to show the world that we can be whatever we choose to be – I could have easily just found myself in the bottom of a bottle. But that’s not me and I want to experience what life has to give to the fullest.”

The story answers some of the big questions many UFC fans have been asking since Nate’s last fight against Rich Franklin – Where’s Nate been?  To quickly answer that question, the UFC states, “Few knew that it was his back that had given out on him in the aftermath of the Franklin bout, not his desire to keep fighting.”  Now Nate faces his first fight after having his back surgery.  This Wednesday, free on Spike Tv, Nate Quarry will be up against Pete Sell for a rematch fight that Nate ended quickly in the first years ago.

I normally don’t do these kind of posts, but for anyone who’s ever interacted with Nate Quarry, or at least seen him on the Ultimate Fighter Reality Show, he’s a real stand up guy.  I’ve had the pleasure of chatting with him and he’s as nice in person as on screen – it’s always nice to see celebrities who are down to earth.  But enough about my experiences.

Since his loss at UFC 56, back in November of 2005, Nate Quarry has not fought in any mixed martial arts event.  Nate suffered a back injury which resulted in a spinal fusion!  The docs said that we wouldn’t be able to fight again, he’s going to prove them wrong September 19th at Ultimate Fight Night 11.  Nate is scheduled to fight against Pete Sell.  This fight will be a rematch from their first UFC Fight Night fight in August of 2005 when Nate defeated Pete 42 seconds into the first round!

So, to get to the point.. How can you help UFC Fighter Nate Quarry Out?

Nate Quarry Making His Way Back to the UFC After 2 Years!

Wednesday, August 22nd, 2007

It’s been two years since Nate Quarry has last fought in the UFC. We all remember his fight against Rich Ace Franklin at UFC 56 in Nov. of 2005, ending in a highlight Knockout by Franklin (the video can be seen below). Since his fight against Franklin in 2005, we’ve heard little about Quarry. He had a horrible back injury which required a spinal fusion of two of his vertebrae. Doctor’s stated that he would never be able to fight again, but Nate sets out to prove them wrong as he enters the ring at UFC Ultimate Fight Night 11 on September 19th in Las Vegas. Nate will rematch Pete Sell in this event – they last fought at Ultimate Fight Night in 2005, ending in a TKO 42 seconds into the fight.
