Micheal Bisping Has a Death Wish, Anderson Silva Can Fulfill It

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Anderson Silva recently stated that he wishes to retire from Mixed Martial Arts when he turns 35.  He’s currently 33.  Part of the reason for him leaving the sport, he feels that there’s not a lot left for him to do in the sport.  But Micheal Bisping disagrees, “I think there are a lot of good fights at middleweight for him – me being one of them”, Bisping stated to the UK’s Sun.  But with all fairness, he additionally states, “Anderson is the pound for pound best in the world – an unbelievable fighter.”… “But that said, I want to get a pop at the guy before he retires.”

Don’t get me wrong, but didn’t Bisping just barely beat Chris Leben?  A third round decision over Chris Leben for Bisping isn’t that impressive.  If I remember correctly, Anderson Silva dropped Chris Leben 49 seconds into the first round of their UFN event.  Yes, Leben is more fit, etc, etc, but so is Silva. Bisping is for sure a class act, but I think he’s out of his mind wanting to fight Anderson Silva, I might be wrong, time will only tell.

Chris Leben vs Michael Bisping Fight Trailer Video UFC 89

Wednesday, October 1st, 2008

This is one good fight trailer, sure to get you pumped up for the Chris Leben vs Michael Bisping UFC 89 fight. When I heard about this fight, I wasn’t too thrilled, but after watching this trailer, there are a lot of points to get excited about. Both fighters have a great offense, they come at their opponents hard and put a lot into it. Bisping is going to come in a lot stronger and faster at 185lb vs his previous 205lb. He’s full of confidence and will really push the pace. On the other side, you have a new Chris Leben who’s been training in Hawaii really getting his life together. He always comes strong, isn’t afraid to get hit and will take a punch and come back much harder.  I’m expecting a good fast paced fight.. Looking forward to UFC 89.

Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping Post UFC 78 Interview Video

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007

Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping comment on their UFC 78 main event fight. Rashad states that Bisping was tough as hell and that their fight was one of Bisping’s best fights ever. Evans states that he didn’t preform as well as he wanted to. Bisping responded that he wants to get back to fighting ASAP. He agrees that he made a few mistakes and should have pushed the fight a bit more. Bisping also responds to how he was booed by the Newark NJ crowd and how that would not happen in England.

UFC 78 Validation Results - Rashad Evans vs Michael Bisping Who Won?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Don’t laugh, we went to UFC 78 Validation last night at the new Prudential Center in Newark NJ. In another post, I’ll talk a bit about the atmosphere, the celebrities who showed up, the madness around the arena, but for now, here are the results of last night’s fights.

Akihiro Gono defeated Tamdan McCrory in the Second Round with an Armbar

Marcus Aurelio defeated Luke Caudillo with a TKO like a total badass in Round One.

Joe Lauzon finished Jason Reinhardt like nothing in Round One with a rear naked choke.

In a controversial ending Thiago Alves defeats Chris Lytle via doctor stoppage in Round Two - The fans were completely pissed off continuous “booing”.

Frankie Edgar who received a ton of New Jersey support (he’s from Toms River New Jersey) dominated Spencer Fisher and won via an unanimous decision.

Ed Herman defeated Joe Doerksen with a sick Knockout in Round Three.  Joe was hurt pretty good and needed assistance out of the octagon.

Karo Parisyan defeated Ryo Chonan via unanimous decision after a long borefest - the audience was freaking out.

Thiago Silva defeated Houston Alexander with a major upset in the First Round.  Thiago got a full mount on Houston who looked like a fish out of water.  He rained down a series of punches and finished Houston with a KO in Round One.

Rashad Evans defeated Michael Bisping via split decision in one of the most boring main events ever.  Evans has a tendency to lock up and hold his opponent for the greater majority of the fight.  This is great from a defensive / survival perspective, and I don’t blame him for doing it, but doesn’t make for an exciting fight.
