Ed states that he gives Joe a lot of respect, that he’s a real tough guy and took the fight on short notice. Ed was stoked to find that he was fighting Joe Doerksen as he was beat by him 3 and 1/2 years ago. He’s happy as hell that he got his first KO.

Rashad Evans and Michael Bisping comment on their UFC 78 main event fight. Rashad states that Bisping was tough as hell and that their fight was one of Bisping’s best fights ever. Evans states that he didn’t preform as well as he wanted to. Bisping responded that he wants to get back to fighting ASAP. He agrees that he made a few mistakes and should have pushed the fight a bit more. Bisping also responds to how he was booed by the Newark NJ crowd and how that would not happen in England.

UFC 78 Who Was Injured? NJSACB Reports…

Monday, November 19th, 2007

It’s always interesting to hear about the aftermath of a UFC event.  It’s not surprise that often times fighters walk away with broken bones.  Last Saturday, as reported by NJSACB (New Jersey Athletic Control Board) Joe Doerksen cracked his orbital bone after catching a knee from Ed Herman, while the only other fighter to make the list was Akihiro Gono for a wrist injury.

Naughty New UFC Ring Girl Edith Larente (UFC 78)

Monday, November 19th, 2007

UFC’s new Octagon Girl Edith Larente recently made her first appearance at UFC 78. Since this appearance, many of the UFC fans have made a big deal about her. There’s not a whole lot of information out there about her…. until now… Apparently Edith has an alias, Anabelle.. Anabelle is a bit naughty as you will see in this pictures from FlashyBabes.com.

Celebrities at UFC 78 – Tap Out Crew, Chuck Zito and More

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

So, who did I see in the audience while at UFC 78 Validation in Newark NJ?  Primarily UFC Fighters including Quinton Rampage Jackson, Dan Henderson, Keith Jardine, Matt Hamill, BJ Penn, Ken Florian, Matt Serra, Jason Mayhem Miller, Tito Ortiz and Jenna Jameson  – I think Forrest may have been there, not 100% sure though because he was rocking a hat.

Who else? The TapOut crew was there from the beginning – Punkass, Mask and Scyskrape… Paul Senior from American Chopper was there rocking a sleeveless showing off the guns and the one and only badass of the streets Chuck Zito from Hells Angels, HBO’s Oz and a bodyguard of Pamela Anderson among others.

The UFC’s New Octagon Girl Edith Larente – UFC 78

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

At last night’s UFC 78 Validation there was a new Ring Girl working the ring with Arianny Celeste. She first appeared during the weighs in for the fight on Friday. She then worked the entire prelims and main event last night. So “who is this CJ?”, no wait, that’s from Borat… Who is this new Octagon Girl? Word on the street, her name is Edith Larente. Edith’s a Canadian, Montreal native, 25 years of age, and last night was in deed her debut. I wanted to take some shots, but unfortunately they don’t make a camera good enough to take shots from the seats I had :)

UFC 78 Validation Results – Rashad Evans vs Michael Bisping Who Won?

Sunday, November 18th, 2007

Don’t laugh, we went to UFC 78 Validation last night at the new Prudential Center in Newark NJ. In another post, I’ll talk a bit about the atmosphere, the celebrities who showed up, the madness around the arena, but for now, here are the results of last night’s fights.

Akihiro Gono defeated Tamdan McCrory in the Second Round with an Armbar

Marcus Aurelio defeated Luke Caudillo with a TKO like a total badass in Round One.

Joe Lauzon finished Jason Reinhardt like nothing in Round One with a rear naked choke.

In a controversial ending Thiago Alves defeats Chris Lytle via doctor stoppage in Round Two – The fans were completely pissed off continuous “booing”.

Frankie Edgar who received a ton of New Jersey support (he’s from Toms River New Jersey) dominated Spencer Fisher and won via an unanimous decision.

Ed Herman defeated Joe Doerksen with a sick Knockout in Round Three.  Joe was hurt pretty good and needed assistance out of the octagon.

Karo Parisyan defeated Ryo Chonan via unanimous decision after a long borefest – the audience was freaking out.

Thiago Silva defeated Houston Alexander with a major upset in the First Round.  Thiago got a full mount on Houston who looked like a fish out of water.  He rained down a series of punches and finished Houston with a KO in Round One.

Rashad Evans defeated Michael Bisping via split decision in one of the most boring main events ever.  Evans has a tendency to lock up and hold his opponent for the greater majority of the fight.  This is great from a defensive / survival perspective, and I don’t blame him for doing it, but doesn’t make for an exciting fight.
