ProElite / EliteXC Promotion Is Out Of Business… What does this mean for CBS Saturday Night Fights?

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

Kimbo Slice will no longer fight for the ProElite / EliteXC promotion, not by choice, but simply for the fact that ProElite has gone out of business.  For those of you who don’t know the business relationship between EliteXC and ProElite, ProElite was a media company founded by the partnership of Showtime Networks and EliteXC.  After being founded, CBS joined the partnership being granted the rights to broadcast 4 EliteXC events as Saturday Night Fights.  In September Showtime Network which owned 20% in the company, wished to gain a larger and controlling portion of the company.  According to Sports Illustrated, “When those negotiations failed, said a source inside ProElite who asked not to be identified, funding dried up and the company was forced out of business.” So, folks, it looks like Kimbo Slice won’t be fighting Seth in a rematch on CBS any time soon.  Will CBS work out some deal with EliteXC along, only the future will tell.

Kimbo Slice Post Fight Interview… “I got the first black-eye of my life”

Sunday, October 5th, 2008

I was hoping to hear Kimbo Slice’s perspective regarding how things went down at last night’s EliteXC Heat event in which Kimbo had his first professional loss and was publicly embarrassed loosing a fight in 14 seconds to Seth Petruzzelli.  However, a post fight interview with Kimbo was limited to a couple of words, and these are the words that ESPN was able to get out of him:

“Before tonight nobody knew who this guy [Seth Petruzzelli] was, now everybody knows who he is,” Slice said. “I have nothing but good stuff to say about him.

“You beat me in front of my family, man, that’s [messed] up. But it’s all good. And I got the first black-eye of my life.”

Affliction Andre Arlovski T-Shirt From EliteXC Against Roy Nelson

Saturday, October 4th, 2008

Andre Arlovski just defeated Roy Nelson (aka Big Country) at EliteXC with a nice hook followed up with a straight right that brought Nelson to his knees.  After the fight, which ended in the second round, Arlovski and his team made sure to put on their Affliction T-Shirts.  I immediately loved the shirt that they were wearing, the Andre Arlovski Signature Affliction T-Shirt and was thrilled to learn that it was available for sale.  You can purchase your own by clicking on the t-shirt below.

Gina Carano Strips Nude to Make Weight - Pictures Included

Friday, October 3rd, 2008

Gina Carano weighed in today for tomorrow night’s EliteXC Heat event where she will match up against Kelly Kobold.  Gina’s looking fit as can be, almost to the point that she’s unrecognizable.  However, in order to make weight, Gina had to drop trauw and get naked on a scale.  Without further ado, check out these pics.

Last Week - UFC vs Affliction, This Week… UFC vs EliteXC

Friday, July 25th, 2008

Last week the UFC put on a free Spike TV Fight Night event in what many thought was an attempt to eclipse the Fedor vs. Tim Sylvia Affliction Banned PPV event. In my personal opinion, this was a good move for the UFC and was very successful.  This Saturday night CBS and EliteXC are putting on a free airing of the EliteXC Unfinished Business Event. Will the UFC respond as they did with Affliction. You bet. The UFC will be airing free on SpikeTV UFC 84 BJ Penn vs Sean Sherk. Wow, an event that aired live 2 months ago… how anti climatic.  I don’t think this one will have nearly as much of an effect as UFN did last week.

Kimbo Slice to Fight at EliteXC in Newark New Jersey in May?

Thursday, March 20th, 2008

It looks like another MMA event will hit the new Prudential Center in Newark New Jersey.  The last time it was UFC Validation featuring Bisping vs Rashad Evans, this time it will be Robbie Lawler and Scott Smith, and Kimbo Slice versus an unknown competitor.  Sounds like a hell of a night, but guess what?  It only gets better.  EliteXC has signed a deal with CBS.  CBS will be broadcasting the MMA event live on May 31st at 9PM ET free of charge!   Wait, it gets even better, this May 31st event will be one of many.  The new program will be called “Saturday Night Fights” and rumored to fight along with the title Robbie Lawler vs Scott Smith, Gina Carano may possibly step away from the American Gladiator spotlight to get back to her roots.  This is only a rumor at the moment.
