Georges St. Pierre and Matt Hughes Post UFC 79 Interview Video

Going into his UFC 79 fight against Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre was training with Olympians for the Olympic events and boxing WBA world champion fighter. So when Georges was approached by the UFC to fill in for Matt Serra, he knew he was in perfect shape for the fight and took it within 1 months notice. Georges talks about how excellent of a trainer Greg Jackson is, and how he has a lot of loyalty in an “honest partnership”. Now that he was helped by Greg Jacksons camp for his fight, he will help those guys out as they prepare for their own fights.

Hughes humbly talks about his fight with Georges St. Pierre. He discusses how he trained for his fight for Matt Serra, and how Georges came and in didn’t have a hard time at all against Hughes. He admits that he didn’t put a lot of leather on St. Pierre. Hughes talks about Serra’s upcoming fight against St. Pierre and how he won’t last against Georges. Finally Hughes gets a plug in for his new book, “Made in America”.

Chuck Liddell, Matt Hughes, Wanderlei Silva Medical Suspensions UFC 79

This past weekends UFC 79 Nemesis left a number of fighters with bumps and bruises. The Nevada State Athletic Commission announced a list of fighters who are on medical suspension.  Included in the list was Chuck Liddell and Matt Hughes, who are both suspended from fighting until January 29th 2008, Wanderlei Silva and Sokoudjou, who are both suspended until February 13th 2008,  James Irvin, who is suspended until February 28th 2008 and Soa Palelei who took quite a beating from Eddie Sanchez is suspended until June 27th 2008 for a broken nose and a broken orbital bone!

We’ll cover the fight results for UFC 79 Nemesis tonight as the night goes on. As for the the big bouts, including Chuck Liddell versus Wanderlei Silva and Georges St. Pierre vs Matt Hughes, they will additionally be covered. We’ll start the night off with James Irvin vs. Luis Arthur Cane. Yet another weird victory for Irvin, winning by DQ. Check out the summary of the fight.

  • James Irvin vs. Luis Arthur Cane – Irvin gets knocked out in the first round by an illegal knee to the head while on the ground, Irvin wins the fight by disqualification.
  • Rich Clementi defeats Melvin Guillard with a Rear Naked Choke in the first round
  • Lyoto Machida defeats Rameau Sokoudjou in the second round with an Arm-Triangle
  • Eddie Sanchez puts a hurting with a ton of uppercuts on Soa Palelei and TKO’s him in the third
  • Chuck Liddell defeats Wanderlei Silva after a total brawl with a unanimous decision int he third.
  • Georges St. Pierre does it again, puts on a total grappling clinic against Matt Hughes and finishes him in the second round with a Armbar – Damn GSP looked bad ass!

Chuck Liddell Talks to ESPN About Wanderlei Silva UFC 79 Video

Chuck Liddell’s coming out of a loosing strike, but he’s feeling confident and he’s ready to “knock out” Wanderlei Silva. For those who think that the Iceman is over with, Chuck says, “Come and see the fight”.

Chuck’s asked about his partying and whether he partied before his fight with Rampage and Keith Jardine. A lot of people on the internet message boards where rumoring that he’s too much of a party animal, that he parties too much and drinks alcohol too much. But the Iceman doesn’t need an alcohol rehab, those are just rumors. Chuck says that he never parties before a fight… for a month leading up to the fight, Chuck doesn’t drink alcohol, he only drinks water.

Chuck shows respect for Wanderlei Silva, he states that he is very aggressive, has a lot of power and is a very dangerous fighter. Get ready for the fight between Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva this weekend at UFC 79 Nemesis. Check out the video to get you started.

UFC 79 Nemesis Fighters Take To The Scale Friday

This Friday, UFC 79 Nemesis Fighters, including Matt Hughes, Georges St. Pierre, Chuck Liddell and Wanderlei Silva, Dean Lister, Melvin Guillard, Rich NO LOVE Clementi (among others) will all weigh in officially at the Mandalay Bay Event Center in Las Vegas.  As always, the event will be free to attend.  If you wish to watch the weigh ins online, a live broadcast will be provided by UFC.com, FoxSports.com, NBCSports.com and Yahoo Sports.

Weigh ins will begin at 7pm EST.
