Well, as predicted, the Anderson Silva vs James Irvin fight wasn’t much of a fight for Anderson. Early in the first round James and Anderson felt each other would with a short exchange of strikes. Shortly after James throws a low kick that Anderson catches with his left hand, traps and then delivers a solid right hand to the chin of James Irvin. Game over, James drops and Anderson capitalizes with a barrage of strikes on the mat. Who’s going to challenge Anderson Silva?
I’m really starting to love these MMA prediction videos. There’s a ton of guys out there who are totally into the video making process, some who know their stuff, other’s who don’t have a clue. Today’s special is for the Anderson Silva vs James Irvin fight. My man “The MMA Analyst” aka the untrained Rashed Evans, has his predictions for the entire night, but let’s just focus in on Anderson Silva fighting James Irvin. The prediction is that James Irvin is going to get “tooled” by Anderson Silva. Sounds about right to me. Here’s his breakdown. Silva ran through Henderson and Rich Franklin without issue, his losses are barely losses, DQ, etc. Irvin in the MMA Analyst’s opinion is at best light heavyweight top 30. He will be no problem for Anderson. The fight doesn’t make sense in his opinion. If Silva beats Irvin, what does that mean? Nothing. The match up doesn’t make much sense, not an amazing match up. Possibly match up with Chuck Liddell and we’ll have a serious fight and a serious situation if Anderson wins.
Overall, despite cracking the Rashed joke, I like many of the points that the MMA Analyst’s makes regarding this fight, what do you think?
Oh and what are your predictions? Anderson Silva wins, first round, KO? Betus has it Silva - 500 to Irvin 350.
The UFC just announced Anderson Silva’s next victim, yes, I said victim. On Saturday, July 19 the UFC will be hosting a live Fight Night on SpikeTV. The main event for the night will be Anderson Silva vs… drum roll please, James Irvin! I found this to be much of a surprise. Don’t get me wrong, James Irvin has been around for some time and has had some outstanding finishes / wins… but to take on Anderson Silva, I’m not too sure about that… The argument can be made, if he’s not ready now, he’ll never be… that’s probably true… Maybe he’ll get lucky like he did in the picture below. Or maybe I think too highly of Anderson Silva. What do you think? Am I overreacting?
Back at UFC 54, Terry Martin was putting a hurting on James Irvin for the entire first round of their fight. Irvin came out in the second round, ran and threw a huge Flying Knee and knocked Terry Martin out cold! One of my favorite Knockout’s of all time… Was thinking about it because of the recent UFN fight between Martin and Leben.
