UFC 82 Fight Results - Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson and More…

Monday, March 3rd, 2008

The official results of UFC 82 are in.

  • Anderson Silva def. Dan Henderson via submission (rear-naked choke) — Round 2, 4:52

As predicted in my UFC betting prediction, Anderson Silva defeated Dan Henderson.  There’s no stopping this guy, the way he performed against Henderson was absolutely amazing.  The two came out, felt each other out showing total respect for each other’s skill.  For over a minute the two didn’t exchange and then Henderson threw a blow which lead to Silva throwing some kicks.  The two exchanged for a little bit and then continued to feel each other out.  Henderson took Silva down several times in the first round and proceeded to throw hammer fists to Anderson’s head.  In the second round Anderson seemed much more comfortable in the ring dancing around striking with high kicks and punch combinations.  Anderson landed a number of strikes bringing Henderson to the mat, he took Dan’s back, flattened him out, punches him with strikes and ended the fight with a Rear Naked Choke - this guy is sick!

  • Heath Herring def. Cheick Kongo via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-28)
  • Chris Leben def. Alessio Sakara via TKO (strikes) — Round 1, 3:36
  • Yushin Okami def. Evan Tanner via KO (knee) — Round 2, 3:00
  • Jon Fitch def. Chris Wilson via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Andrei Arlovski def. Jake O’Brien via TKO (strikes) — Round 2, 4:17
  • Luigi Fioravanti def. Luke Cummo via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 30-27)
  • Josh Koscheck def. Dustin Hazelett via TKO (strikes) — Round 2, 1:24
  • Diego Sanchez def. David Bielkheden via submission (strikes) — Round 1, 4:42
  • Jorge Gurgel def. John Halverson via unanimous decision (29-28, 29-28, 30-27)

UFC 82 Betting Odds (Bet US) + MMA Betting Odds Explained

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

With the exception of the The Pick Em For Bragging Rights Contest (which by the way we dominated), I’m not much of a gambling man. In fact, I don’t gamble at all. Having said that, it’s out of character posting betting odds, however, a lot of people have been looking for odds on the site, so I decided to post the UFC 82 odds. Looking over the odds, I thought it would be a good idea to explain how the system works. So here’s my attempt, from a non-gambler who is just learning about gambling to explain the gambling / betting odds of Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson in UFC 82. If I screw up, please correct me… I’m a total newbie.

Anderson Silva (-150) vs. Dan Henderson (+120)

Anderson Silva is favored to win his fight against Dan Henderson. The -150 means if you bet $150.00, you will win $100.00, your ratio being 1.5 / 1. Dan Henderson on the other hand is +110, meaning, if you put down 100, you will win $110. Get it?

Here are all of the UFC 82 betting odds for the night.

  • Anderson Silva (-140) vs. Dan Henderson (+110)
  • Cheick Kongo (-155) vs. Heath Herring (+125)
  • Yushin Okami (-200) vs. Evan Tanner (+160)
  • Jon Fitch (-600) vs. Chris Wilson (+400)
  • Chris Leben (-130) vs. Alessio Sakara (+125)
  • Andrei Arlovski (-360) vs. Jake O’Brien (+280)
  • Luke Cummo (-160) vs. Luigi Fioravanti (+130)
  • Josh Koscheck (-550) vs. Dustin Hazelett (+350)
  • Diego Sanchez (-550) vs. David Bielkheden (+350)
  • Jorge Gurgel (-200) vs. John Halverson (+160)

Which bets stand out for me the most?

With respect to the Koscheck vs Hazelett and Sanchez vs Bielkheden, I would never drop $550 to earn $100 bucks… not worth it for me. Would I bet against them? I might give it a shot and bet against them if both fighters were not making their UFC debut.. So what would I do? If I made one bet for the night, I’d have to go with the Anderson Silva fight. I’d throw down $140 and make myself $100 for the night. I feel pretty confident in Anderson’s skills. That’s my bet for the night. If you’re interesting in betting yourself, BET US is currently running some promotions. Check them out.

UFC 82 Edith LaBelle and Arianny Celeste Look on at Weigh Ins - Diego Sanchez looks Shredded, Koscheck Looks Ripped, Arlovski Looks Bad Ass with Bling Video

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

The official UFC 82 weigh ins from last night have been edited and posted to EPSN. Diego Sanchez looked fit, but a bit decimated. Andre Arlovski looked bad as rocking some bling bling. Evan Tanner’s looking fit, but not has big as he’s looked in the past. Cheick Kongo looked ripped as ever. Anderson Silva and Dan Henderson had a great stare down, but ended in a great show of sportsmanship. And all along, UFC Ring Girls Arianny Celeste and Edith Labelle looked over the weigh ins.

Joe Rogan’s UFC 82 Anderson Silva vs Dan Henderson Preview Video

Saturday, March 1st, 2008

ESPN interview Joe Rogan regarding tonight’s UFC 82 fight featuring Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva. When asked for a preview of tonight’s fight, Joe states that Dan Henderson and Anderson Silva are the two best 185lb MMA fighters in the world, no question. He goes on to say that both fighters are stacked and as for fight predictions, it’s truly a 50 / 50 fight, Anderson is one hell of a striker while Dan is an Olympic wrestler with Knock Out Power capable of knocking out Wanderlei Silva. Check out the video.

The UFC Takes UFC 82 Pay-Per-View (PPV) Online with Yahoo! Sports

Friday, February 22nd, 2008

Wow, this is very interesting. Yahoo! Sports and the UFC have teamed up to deliver live UFC events online. The first event to make its way live on the Internet is UFC 82 “Pride of a Champion” featuring Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva. The video will be streamed live in high quality bandwidth, 300k, 700k, and 1200k.  In addition to the full PPV event streamed live to your computer, included in the package is 24 hours of unlimited archive viewing of the event.  So, what does this all cost? $44.95!

In my opinion, this is a good option for people who are overseas, including soldiers and vacationers.  With a video output card, you can deliver the live PPV directly to a television.  But the average Joe who can’t order the event and watch it directly on their big screen tv.. at $44.95, it’s not happening…

Chris Leben’s Next Fight… UFC 82 Dan Henderson vs Anderson Silva Fight Night

Monday, January 28th, 2008

Coming off of a sweet victory over Terry Martin at Ultimate Fight Night 11, Chris Leben is getting ready to face off with Alessio Sakara at UFC 82.  The event will take place on March 1, 2008 at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus Ohio, the same night that Anderson Silva will take on Dan Henderson for the UFC Middleweight championship.  Henderson’s coming off of a loss in which he had a light heavyweight title shot against Quinton Rampage Jackson.  Henderson didn’t get the Light Heavyweight Belt, now he’s getting a shot at the light heavyweight belt?  How does that work?  Shouldn’t there be some fights in between?  I guess that Henderson’s performance against Rampage, which was a very close fight all the way, is enough to give him that shot for the middleweight belt.  Although in my opinion, Anderson Silva is going to be a tougher battle for Henderson.
