At the UFC 89 weigh ins, Chris Lytle and Paul Taylor said to each other, let’s get the fight of the night, and they did just that.  One of the most explosive fights of the night, surpassing the interesting strikefest between Chris Leben and Micheal Bisping, Chris Lytle and Paul Taylor exchanged a flurry of punches, fast and short from Taylor, and bombs of Lytle.  Both fighters put their all into it, earning the Fight of the Night and a cool 40g’s each. Luis Cane also earned an extra $40,000 for his TKO Knockout of the Night over Sokoudjou and Jim Miller won $40k for the night for his unaired Submission of the Night over David Baron with a RNC.

UFC 89 has been an exciting event thus far. Rameau Thierry Sokoudjou came out putting a hurting on Luis Arthur Cane with some strong fast kicks.  However the explosiveness caught up with Sokoujou and he quickly became gassed. Cane capitalized on it and defeated Sokoudjou in the second round.

Brandon Vera and Keith Jardine are faced off, Brandon and Keith have both landed flash KO on each other in the first round, the second round has been pretty even in striking and the third round wasn’t very eventful.  Overall Jardine seemed a bit ahead of Vera, landing more strikes and eventually pulled off the win via decision.

ESPN just posted some weigh in pictures for tonight’s UFC 89 (that will be live free on Spike TV) and I gotta say “Dang!” Chris Leben is looking Shredded, a like a new guy. He appears to have a few new tats, some cornrows and a six pack. Hawaii has been good to him? We’ll see tonight. Check out the weigh in video was well, Leben’s at the end.

This is one good fight trailer, sure to get you pumped up for the Chris Leben vs Michael Bisping UFC 89 fight. When I heard about this fight, I wasn’t too thrilled, but after watching this trailer, there are a lot of points to get excited about. Both fighters have a great offense, they come at their opponents hard and put a lot into it. Bisping is going to come in a lot stronger and faster at 185lb vs his previous 205lb. He’s full of confidence and will really push the pace. On the other side, you have a new Chris Leben who’s been training in Hawaii really getting his life together. He always comes strong, isn’t afraid to get hit and will take a punch and come back much harder.  I’m expecting a good fast paced fight.. Looking forward to UFC 89.

If it’s free, it’s for me.  Word on the street is that UFC 89 in the UK, like the other UK events will be free on Spike TV.  Announced along with Bisping taking on Leben, Diego Sanchez is facing off with Thiago Alves!  What a match up that’s going to be.  The event will air on October 18th from the NIA in Birmingham England.

The UFC is making their way over to the UK once again, and this time the headerline will be Chris Leben versus Micheal Bisping at UFC 89 on October 18, 2008.  In addition to Bisping and Leben facing off, it is rumored that Anderson Silva will take on Yushin Okami for the second time.  For those of you who don’t remember, Silva lost to Okami (you can watch the video here) back in 2006 at Rumble on the Rocks for a DQ.  Anderson was pissed as hell about the decision as you can see in the following video.  Expect a good fight if this goes down… I’m sure we’ll see another Silva win though.
