Anderson Silva’s Not Here To Play Around – Post UFC 90 Interview Video

Monday, October 27th, 2008

Anderson Silva put on quite a show during UFC 90. His strategy was to confuse Patrick Cote on Saturday night as he constantly changed positions, moved in and out and played around with a variety of martial arts styles, including wing chung. Overall, Anderson feels that it was effective. Anderson states that Patrick couldn’t find him, so his style was effective. Although some may think that he was playing around, he says that he wasn’t there to play, he was there to win.

UFC 90 Fight Results – Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

UFC 90, what can I say… The UFC has seen better main events. The night started off with a full intense three round fight between Sean Sherk and Tyson Griffin, Griffin’s striking skills looked excellent, it was a close bout, but in the end, Sherk won the decision. The next bout of the night, Fabricio Werdum vs Junior dos Santos. To everyone’s surprise, Dos Santos dropped Fabricio in record time.  The next fight, Gray Maynard vs Rich Clementi, boring… Next, Josh Koscheck vs Thiago Alves.  From the start Thiago’s striking skills outmatched Koscheck.  Early in the first, Koscheck was rocked, but recovered amazingly fast.  With time, Koscheck’s confidence picked up and he was looking better and better, until Alves started punishing him with leg kicks.  The kicks were clearly damaging Koscheck who was getting weaker and weaker on his legs, and in the end, Koscheck showed a ton of heart, but lost in a decision.

The final bout of the night was quite an upset.  Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote.  Anderson Silva felt Cote out for the majority of the first round.  I don’t know if he was stalling for the bookies, or if he was planning for a 5 round fight.  Silva showed some striking skills in the first, but didn’t really begin to start his punishment until late in the second.  Silva landed a number of strikes, and was playing around having fun showing off some unorthodox skills such as the flower motion. Finally in the third, just when Anderson was starting to explode, Cote’s knee buckled, ACL appeared to pop, and the fight was called off with an injury TKO, what a friggin upset.

UFC 90 Live Fight Results Fabricio Werdum vs Junior dos Santos

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

What an exciting fight with a shocking ending.  The two stand up with each other exchanging  punches.  Dos Santos was very careful not to take the fight to the ground, and before that could happen 1 minute, 20 seconds into the first round Junior “Cigano” dos Santos drops Fabricio Werdum with a solid uppercut as Werdum throws what looked to be a dangerous overhand punch.  What a KO, something worthy of a highlight reel!

UFC 90 Live Fight Results – Sean Sherk vs Tyson Griffin

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Sean Sherk has been training hard with Minnesota Martial Arts for his UFC 90 fight against a man 10 years younger than him. Both fighters came out hard and exchanged heavily throughout the entire fight. Sean Sherk was able to take Tyson Griffin’s back several times throughout the fight, most notably twice in the first round. The first time Sherk got Tyson’s back, Tyson intelligently walked over to his corner and got advice from Randy Couture on how to shake him Sean off. The second attempt resulted in a fast withdraw from Sherk as he knew Tyson knew how to handle himself. Overall the fight was exciting, both fighters constantly exchanging strikes. Sherk’s leg kicks and punches looked sharp, as well as Tyson’s, but in the end, after three rounds of fighting, Sherk took the decision.

Sneak Peek, Anderson Silva and Patrick Cote Hotel Training for UFC 90 Fight – Video

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

Here’s a sneak peek of Anderson Silva and Patrick Cote training separately for their upcoming UFC 90 fight against each other.  You have to fast forward a bit through Dana White’s video blog, but I’d suggest watching the entire video, it’s pretty interesting to see some of the prep work Dana does leading up to an event.  It’s also pretty funny to hear Anderson talk about his wife seeing the All Access video of Anderson with Rachelle Leah and how she wanted to know more about who Rachelle Leah was… hahaha! It’s nobody, just the girl on the cover of the US Playboy Magazine.

Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote UFC 90 Fight Preview Video Clip

Friday, October 10th, 2008

Anderson Silva is ready for his match up with Patrick Cote at UFC 90, he expects to exchange some strikes with Cote. He knows that all of his opponents have some weak spots, so he is going to look to those weak spots to defeat Cote. Anderson thinks that Patrick is confident and he likes that, it makes for a better fight. If Cote thinks that he’s going to knock out Silva or submit him in the third round, “good” Silva says. But there’s a chance that he will get knocked out or submitted by Silva in the first round. And this is what I like most about Anderson Silva, he prefers not to talk so much, he prefers to go in there and just show people, and I’m sure that’s what he will do.

UFC 90 Anderson Silva vs Patrick Cote Prefight Interview Video

Patrick Cote states that he’s never been rocked or knocked out in his life, maybe that’s the reason why he’s not scared to go toe to toe with anyone. He knows that he hits hard and has a great chin. He acknowledges that Anderson Silva is the best fighter in the world, but if he had one weakness then it would be his wrestling. Patrick is training harder than usual and is prepare for Anderson to attack his chin. Overall, he hopes to fight the best Anderson Silva possibly and to do his best against him.
