Nogueira and Rampage Cash in at UFC 92 - Salaries

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

It’s always interesting to find out how much a UFC fighter was paid for an event.  Typically there’s a great divide in salary among the top fighters and those who fall underneath them.  For instance, at the top of the charts for UFC 92, Quinton Rampage Jackson took home a total of $325,000. $225,000 to fight and $100,000 for his win bonus.  Antonio Nogueria additionally took home a nice sum, $250,000 for his loss to Frank Mir, who only received $45,000 to fight, and a total of $90,000 after winning!  While many of the fighters took home a good night’s pay, Cheick Kongo $90k after his win over Al Turk, Matt Hamill, $20k for his win, fighters Dan Evenson and Mike Wessell brought home a mere $4k for their losses.  It’s a tough life for an up and coming fighter.

Nearly 1/3 of All UFC 92 Tickets Were Free! Where was I?

Thursday, January 1st, 2009

UFC 81, UFC 84, UFC 86, UFC 91 and UFC 92 were all hosted in Las Vegas this year. That’s 5 events out of 12. Perhaps the UFC has gone to the Las Vegas well too many times in one year? According to MMA Junkie, of the 14,166 attendees at UFC 92, “a total 4,465 – nearly a third of the overall crowd - were issued complimentary tickets, according to an email today sent to MMAjunkie.com by Nevada State Athletic Commission Executive Director Keith Kizer.”  Comp tickets huh?  Where was I? Regardless, the gate brought in $3,468,440 (compared to UFC 91’s $4.82M), the fifth highest gate of 2008, not bad just after Christmas and with 1/3 of the ticks being comps.

Bye Edith… UFC 92 Introduces a New Ring Girl - Logan Stanton

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

For months now Edith Larente appeared to be out of the picture.  While Edith was off somewhere, Arianny Celeste has been working the ring cards by herself.  But a new sidekick is in town, recently introduced at UFC 92 is Logan Stanton, the UFC’s latest ring girl.  And like Edith Larente, there’s not much information out there about her.  The info that we were able to turn up, she is/was a fashion model with IZON Models and Talent and attended Pensacola Junior College.   That’s all that comes up for now, however, I have a feeling that more information will soon surface.  For now, enjoy the pictures that have surfaced.

Bam! UFC 92 is Looking Staccccccccccked! Forrest, Rashad, Rampage, Wanderlei and More!

Tuesday, October 21st, 2008

The UFC just announced what they deem to be “three historic fights” for UFC 92, “The Ultimate 2008″, and guess what, it’s not marketing hype, it’s stacked. “We are ending 2008 with a fight card like no other,” said UFC President Dana White. “One for every fight fan out there.” The first fight that I’m excited about, UFC Champ Forrest Griffin versus the man who just knocked Chuck Liddell out, Sugar Rashad Evans.  If you remember, predictions suggest that “Chuck Liddell To Win Back His Championship Title From Forrest Griffin at UFC 92“, things change huh?

The next big fight of the night, Ultimate Fighter Coach Frank Mir versus Ultimate Fighter Coach Antonio Nogueria. The first big fight of the night, drum roll please… Wanderlei Silva versus Quinton Rampage Jackson, bam! This card looks stacked!

The UFC 92 event will take place on December 27th 2008 at the one and only MGM Grand in Las Vegas Nevada. Tickets for UFC 92: THE ULTIMATE 2008 will go on sale Saturday, October 25 at 10 a.m. PT and will be priced at $800, $600, $400, $250, $150, $75.

Rampage to Fight Wanderlei Silva at UFC 92, Plus Rampage vs Wanderlei Silva Fight Videos

Sunday, September 28th, 2008

As rumored back in August of this year, Quinton Rampage Jackson will in fact take on Wanderlei Silva in the UFC Octagon at UFC 92.  The madness will go down on December 27th at Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas.  This fight will make for a third fight for Rampage and Wanderlei.  In the past, they faced off two times at Pride events.  The first time they met was at Pride Final Conflict 2003.  The fight ended in the first round (6:28) by a TKO, Wanderlei being the victor.  The two faced off again almost a year later at Pride 28.  Once again the fight ended with Wanderlei as the victor, defeating Rampage in the second round by Knock Out.  So, what can we expect to see at UFC 92?  The retirement of Rampage perhaps?  Or one hell of a fight.

If you have not seen the first two fights, be sure to watch them below:

Chuck Liddell To Win Back His Championship Title From Forrest Griffin at UFC 92

Wednesday, August 27th, 2008

Wow, the UFC fight card rumors keep piling in.  Earlier today it was the UFC 91 match up rumor of Rampage Jackson vs Wanderlei Silva and now… UFC 92 Forrest Griffin vs Chuck Liddell.  Word is Iceman RX spilled the beans on this one.  Iceman RX is planning a promotion that will run from September 1st to December 27, aligned with Liddell’s UFC 92 appearance.  But not so fast… Chuck has a UFC 88 fight against Rashad Evans.  We all know that he should walk right through him, but that was the old Chuck, the Chuck that didn’t get beat by Keith Jardine Chuck.  So, given that he beats Rashad, things should line up perfectly for Chuck to face off with Forrest, an opportunity to solidify Forrest’s game.

Here’s what Chuck said to the UK’s The Sun about the deal: “So after I want the title shot, yeah. I was asked about fighting Forrest when he won the Ultimate Fighter three years ago, and I said he’s not ready and I’d beat him up. But he’s ready now and it would be a great fight.”
