MMA Fight Girls Wallpaper

Last night the UFC 97 Weigh Ins took place at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.  As always, the beautiful ladies of the Octagon were there to kick off a weekend of great fights.  This time, Edith Larente and Logan Stanton were at the weighins without the third amigo Arianny Celeste. Arianny is unable to make the UFC event this weekend due to her grandparent’s 50th Wedding Anniversary.  The couple plans on getting remarried and throwing a bash that Arianny “wouldnt miss this for anything”.

As for the main card tonight, it’s stacked:

• Middleweight Championship bout: Anderson Silva vs. Thales Leites
• Light Heavyweight bout: Chuck Liddell vs. Mauricio Rua
• Heavyweight bout: Cheick Kongo vs. Antoni Hardonk
• Light Heavyweight bout: Steve Cantwell vs. Luiz Arthur Cane
• Light Heavyweight bout: Krzysztof Soszynski vs. Brian Stann

According to BetUS, there’ s a possibly that UFC 97, the upcoming Canadian event, may be canceled.  A recent February 6th “Titans Fighting in Montreal” fighting event involving James Thompson as a headliner brought much Quebec Athletic Commissioning attention to MMA.  The event, which was marketed as striking only, would not be sanctioned by the Quebec Athletic Commission unless it abided by “Full MMA” rules.  Internally, all fighters agreed to keep the bouts standing up and would not take it to the ground.  Thompson however entered the ring and immediately shot at his opponent.  The result, a crowd of angry fans throwing beer bottles.  The fight was stopped and the Commission is now re-evaluating it’s sanctioning rules.  The decision thus far, “they were not prepared to allow MMA events with elbow and knee strikes” and “referees [are] to stop a bout if a fighter is knocked down to make sure he is ok”.

If these rules stand firm in place, we may not have a UFC 97.
