WEC Reality TV Show May Launch on Versus in 2009

Monday, November 3rd, 2008

Some argue that much of the UFC’s recent success in the past 4 years can be attributed to their SpikeTV reality television show, “The Ultimate Fighter”. The Ultimate Fighter reality show was first introduced back in January of 2005 on SpikeTV. The show, as we all know by now featured up and coming MMA fighters who’s goal was to make a name for themselves in the industry to winning a UFC contract. The first season was successful in not only drawing a large viewership, but additionally at introducing many new fans to the sport of MMA.

Due to the success that the UFC gained from their reality tv show, Zuffa, UFC’s parent company is now considering a reality tv show for their WEC (World Extreme Cagefighting) promotion.  The show many not following the same guidelines as “The Ultimate Fighter” and is planned to be aired on the Versus network instead of Spike.  WEC officials expect to  launch something in 2009.

Razor Rob McCullough VS. Richard the Cleat Crunkilton Slug Fest Video

Saturday, September 8th, 2007

Rob McCullough and Richard Crunkilton really slugged it out the other night at WEC 30 that aired live on the Versus network. Going into the fight, Crunkilton and McCullough exchanged punches and kicks until McCullough dropped Crunkilton for the first time with a solid right. McCullough jumped on Crunkilton right away, but was unable to finish him with a ground a pound. Crunkilton got back up to his feet, only to get dropped again with another right! Crunkilton survives by grabbing a hold of his opponent, exchanges a few punches and then gets dropped with a final blow. Check out this exciting slug fest!

Wednesday, September 5th, 2007

Tonight Rob McCullough will take on Rich Crunkilton for the WEC lightweight championship title. The event will be free on the Versus Network. We’ve decided to search for some footage on both of these fighters. We found a great Rob McCullough highlight video and an aware Rich Crunkilton fight against James Martinez at Freedom Fight Canada vs. USA. Rich grounds and pounds James in the first round to win with a TKO.
