Ultimate Women Challenge - The Latest in Reality TV

Wednesday, November 25th, 2009

The Ultimate Fighter has an unlikely competitor airing on December 28th 2009.  The new reality show featuring 16 “beautiful yet fierce” female MMA fighters isn’t Fight Girls 2, but rather a new series to air on NBC called Ultimate Women Challenge.  The show will include many well known names in women’s MMA, including Felice Herrig and Julie Kedzie.  As of October 19th, producers were still filming. Angela Magana was set to film during that week, most likely with either Cristiane Cyborg Santos or Cesar Gracie. For a full list of women rumored to be on the show, see below:

FOX Sports Showcases Women’s MMA with Kim Couture and Julie Kedzie

Saturday, January 10th, 2009

Kim Couture and Julie Kedzie discuss the future of Women’s MMA with FOX’s Fight Game’s host Mike Straka.  The show starts with Straka asking Couture about Kim’s first fight with a broken chin and how she got through it (her goal was to win the fight at all costs).  Straka asks Couture about the possibility of the UFC or WEC to take on Women’s MMA.  She responds that currently the WEC is looking into a card with Gina Carano on it as a trial.  Both women think that this will open up the gate for Women’s MMA.  The go on to future discuss issues of Women’s struggling to make the spotlight in sports in general, as well as whether women have the capability of fighting to provide such entertaining fights with KO’s.

Gina Carano vs. Julie Kedzie Full Fight Video

In the past we’ve posted this fight between Fight Girl Gina Carano and Julie Kedzie, but never in it’s entirety.  For those of you who haven’t seen this MMA match between Gina Carano and Julie Kedzie, it’s a must see.  Gina Carano is dominating and quickly breaks the will of her opponent. Watch the full video in two parts..

Gina Carano and Fight Girls will Shock You!

Tuesday, June 26th, 2007

I’m not sure how many of you caught the new Fight Girls Reality Show on the Oxygen Network. The theme of the show (as well as the video editing) is very similar to Spike’s The Ultimate Fighter reality show. However, the most notable difference between the two shows are the female competitors fighting for an opportunity to compete Muay Thai in Thailand.

Truthfully it feels a little strange watching the Oxygen Network… I try to keep my TV’s remote “jump button” to the Spike TV just in case I get caught watching a “Women’s Network”. But all kidding aside, these girls will redefine most people’s perception of a female fighter. These girls are very elegant, well articulated young ladies with a lot of heart. If you find the time, check out the show tonight and on future Tuesdays - 10:30pm / 9:30 Central. And remember to take a look at Gina Carano, one of the show’s mentors to see what I mean about redefining the female fighter.
