Gina Carano in and Fedor Out of MMA in 2011?

Sunday, February 13th, 2011

After his second defeat in the ring, Fedor Emelianenko suggested that God’s may be telling him something and that perhaps last night would be his last fight in the ring. Whether or not this will hold true in 2011 is unknown, however, another big announcement of the night was that after spending some time away from the sport filming a movie, Gina Carano is ready to once again enter the cage.  Gina stated that she has started training again, and she wants to enter the ring to settle the score for herself.  When asked where she has been training, after some hesitation she stated all of the place, but mainly in Vegas.   As of February 2nd, Xtreme Couture announced that they wanted to welcome Gina back to training as she spent the day training at Xtreme Couture with Gil Martinez. Who might she fight and when is still unknown, however, expect to see her in the cage this year.

EA Sports is going to have some tough competition when entering the MMA Gaming Industry.  THQ’s UFC 2009 and 2010 were quite a hit, the game play is sick and being backed by the UFC, the database of fighters is outstanding.  So, what’s one to do? Advertise your butt off, and that’s just what EA is doing.  Check out the latest attempt by EA Sports to increase the video game’s brand recognition… Randy and Fedor on a 7-11 Slurpee Cup… Marketing Genius or just plain stupid? Everyone has their predictions regarding who’s going to win. “Fedor’s going to sink an armbar on Sylvia and win”, “Syliva has the reach and will KO Fedor”, etc etc. In the past we’ve seen videos from a variety of people in the past including, MMA Girls and The Garve… Here’s an interesting Fight Prediction video from a new girl on the mma scene Mrs. Happening. But here’s an interesting one, she thinks Fedor’s going to win, he’s one of her favorite fighters mostly because he looks like a teddy bear and looks like a nice guy even when he’s fighting. Oh yeah and she likes his drawings, oh yeah and Russia’s cool.  And Tim Tim Sylvia has terrible hair. So there you have it, Fedor’s going to win.

Randy Couture vs Fedor Emelianenko $3 Million Fight Event

Monday, October 15th, 2007

Crawford Grimsley, Cage Fighting Championship spokesperson has announced that the CFC has offered to put up a $3 million purse to host the Pay-Per-View (PPV) fight event of Randy Couture vs  Fedor Emelianenko.  Each fighter is guaranteed to take home 1 million dollars and the winner will take home an additional $1 Million.  Here’s more about the topic from the official press release:

“Grimsley, a former heavyweight boxer who went 12 rounds with big George Foreman for the world title in 1996 said, I dont know who set up the current MMA system of sanctioning bodies locking fighters into exclusive long term contracts. I do know who is out to change this system though, we are, the CFC. We are not going to try to reinvent the wheel, but we would like to add a little of the business model that professional boxing has adopted for decades. Can you imagine if professional boxing would not allow champion to fight champion. How many great boxing matches would we have missed?

Grimsley added, The UFC has made this sport into what it is today and my hat is off to them, but in the same regard, we feel the sport must allow the best from any league to fight each other when the time is right. We are willing to sit down with any and all parties necessary to make this fight happen including the UFC, Randy Couture, the Gersh Agency, Fedor Emelianenko, his manager Vadim Finkelstein and M-1. It happens everyday in boxing. Thats how you get an undisputed champion. This exclusivity only hurts the sport, the fans, the fighters and the amount of money a fighter can make. We are going to do everything we can to bring this fight and many others currently prohibited. Its time for the MMA to change for the benefit of the fighters and fans, not the sanctioning bodies.

The first CFC event took place October 6, 2007 and has already hit the radar of Mark Cubans HDNet Network, which only broadcasts in 1080i High Definition, and the hit show Inside MMA. Highlights of the first CFC Middleweight Title fight Let the Rage Begin aired this last Friday, October 12, 2007. For airing information, go to www.hd.net and look for the Inside MMA schedule.”

Fedor Emelianenko Signs With Russian M-1 Fight

Thursday, October 11th, 2007

As reported by the Fight Network, Fedor has signed an exclusive commitment with Russian M-1 Mix-Fight Championship, not the UFC as we all hoped for. It is rumored that Fedor signed the deal for 10 Million. I guess we won’t see the UFC / Fedor match ups that we all planned in our heads..
