UFC 77 Post Conference Video – Anderson Silva “Pound for Pound the Best Fighter in the World”

Monday, October 22nd, 2007

The conference starts off with Dana White mentioning how once again, the UFC breaks a gate record, this time at the US Band Arena in Cincinnati. Dana then talks about how amazing Anderson Silva is. He states that Pound for Pound, he’s the best fighter in the world, maybe even the best fighter in the world period. And after UFC 77, I have a hard time disagreeing with this comment. Anderson Silva is absolutely unbelievable with his speed and timing. Who’s going to present him with a challenge? This is actually one of the questions presented at the press conference. Dana response that they have some new talent coming in, including Dave Terrell and Ricardo Almeida (Ricardo Almeida BJJ Academy’s in NJ).

Watch the video to hear more about the fights for the night, Rich Franklin’s future in the UFC and what the other fighters have to say.

Dana White Comments on Randy Couture’s Resignation

Friday, October 12th, 2007

UFC.com currently has an article titled “Dana White on the Retirement of Randy Couture” that addresses yesterday’s news of Randy Couture’s resignation from the UFC.  Some important topics are addressed, here are the highlights, visit UFC.com for the full details:

Were you surprised when the fax came into your office with Randy Couture’s resignation?

Dana White – No, I wasn’t surprised. I met with Randy several weeks ago and he said that the only thing he had left to prove in his career and the only challenge left out there for him was Fedor…

So this wasn’t a surprise, but were you at least surprised at the way he went about it, via fax?

DW – He is shooting a movie right now in South Africa, but yes, I am very surprised by the way he did it. I consider Randy Couture a friend and still do. He hooked up with some Hollywood agent that I bitch slapped about a month ago, and these Hollywood agents are parasites, so unfortunately this guy is probably in Randy’s ear right now.

Were you hurt by some of the comments Couture has made regarding a perceived lack of respect from the organization?

Of course we’re hurt by that. Randy Couture is a guy who I’ve said publicly a million times and I’ll say publicly right now who I feel is one of the guys who helped us get here.

It’s a shame to see him go… Read the full article Dana White on the Retirement of Randy Couture it’s well worth the time.

Dana White recently commented about the Renato Babalu Sobra Controversy – holding onto David Heath well after his and Mario Yamasaki’s tap. Listen to what Dana has to say about Babalu’s antics. Dana White Worried About Randy – Randy Couture Vs. Gabriel Gonzaga

Tuesday, August 14th, 2007

In a recent interview by Boston Herald / Improper Bostonian, Dana White was asked about the upcoming Randy Couture vs. Gabriel Gonzaga Fight.  He commented

“I’m worried about Randy, because this guy is so nasty,” White said of Gonzaga. “He’s so powerful and he has so many weapons.”

UFC VP Craig Borsari further states

“There’s a scene in there [UFC Countdown] where Gabriel grabs an Everlast heavybag and body locks it and throws it like he’s slamming it, and the top of the bag explodes. I mean, all the (expletive) comes flying out of the bag. We have to blur out the Everlast logo because they’re not going to like that when he crushes their bag. “This guy’s an animal. He’s the real deal.”

Dana additionally talks about UFC reaching the East Coast – this October the UFC will come to the one and only Brick City – Newark, NJ, at the new home of the NJ Devils Prudential Center.

Dana on Chuck Liddell Loosing to Rampage Jackson:
