The Fight Network reported yesterday that Mauricio Shogun Rua’s ACL Surgery was a success. Shogun underwent his ACL surgery at the Hospital Vita in Curitiba, Brazil. Doctor Mario Namba, Chief Physician of the Brazilian Gymnastics Confederation, performed the operation and stated that the surgery was a success and he expects a fast recovery. In response to his surgery, The Fight Network reports that Shogun stated the following:

“I know about my mistakes in the fight against Forrest,” Rua, 25, said in the release. “I will never use this surgery as an excuse for my lost [sic]. I have all the responsibility for the bad result, now I just want to look for the future. I would like to thank all my fans that are supporting me in this difficult moment and I promise you all that I will be back better than ever. I know that I lost the first battle but not the ‘war’ for the UFC belt.”
