Amanda Lavoy has a very interesting MMA fighting style. Her ground game appears to be very technical and her stand up, while effective, is very scrappy and unorthodox. She bounces around quite a bit in the cage, distracting her opponent from landing strikes. She’s very quick to come in to strike and just as quick to bounce out of the pocket to avoid damage. Her fight against MaEisha Lowe was very close decision that Amanda won, however, as you’ll see from the video below, it was a close one. Amanda got dropped in the second and was very close to losing the fight. But she stated calm and fought through the fight.
So far (that we’re aware of), Michelle is 5 and 1. She had a fight last night in Indiana, but we’re unaware of the results at this time. Check out the videos that we were able to find:
We just introduced you to Michelle Vera (Another Vera in the MMA Scene - Michelle Vera, Brandon’s Sister). As we said in the previous post, she will be on the upcoming women’s MMA reality show “Ultimate Women Combat”. During one of her recent interviews she mentions that her first MMA fight was a bit comical. She didn’t get into details and she stated that a copy of the video exists, however, it’s in her possession and you won’t find it on youtube. She appeared to be very good humored about the fight, so, we decided to do a little digging and happened to turn up something. The below fight video shows Michelle slipping within the first few seconds of the fight. She falls and her opponent, Leah Melnychuk capitalizes on the slip. She gets on top and puts Michelle in a very hairy situation. However Michelle pulls through and makes it for a full 3 rounds. The LBC does it like no other city, at Long Beach Fight Night 6 on October 18th 2009, Long Beach, CA brought some unique ring girls to the scene. The following ring girl rocking the pink hair at Long Beach Fight Night 6 perhaps got a little cocky. At Fight Night 4 she went without the pink doo. Check out the pics from the event.

Hitman Fight Gear definitely has the models that stand out from other MMA gear companies. Perhaps it’s their bright colors, along with the fact that these girls tend to show a bit more. Whatever it is, they definitely pop. Check out some pics of the latest models for Hitman.
The Ultimate Women Challenge is a new female MMA reality show that will air this December. Among the cast members is Michelle Vera, Brandon Vera’s younger sister. Brandon’s manager was contacted regarding the show and reached out to Michelle to inform her of the show. Kerry and Michelle Vera both interviewed for the show and made the cast. Michelle has a number of muay thai fights and few amateur MMA fights. She won her most recent fight via unanimous decision. When asked if she has been inspired by her Brother Brandon, she states “no”. She actually began training before Brandon was even apart of the UFC. When asked about her future in MMA, she said she always has a plan B. She understands that female MMA hasn’t made it big time yet, and it won’t until the UFC picks it up. International Alliance of Mixed Martial Arts (IA:MMA), has over 30 years of experience in the fight community, but is new to the MMA scene. Their first event, Brawl at the Bowl 1, took place back on October 30th of 2009 at the Starlight Bowl in Balboa Park San Diego CA. The event, which had a guest appearance by both Cyborgs; Cristiane “Cyborg” Santos and her husband Evangelista Santos, was such a success that Brawl at the Bowl 2 is being planned to take place in January 2010. Among the fighters of the night were Angie Hayes, Michelle Vera, Rick McCorkell, Rolando Perez, Bailey Byrne, Paul Song and others. Additionally, a full staff of four ring cards girls were at the event, the video captured that night can be seen below.
The Ultimate Fighter has an unlikely competitor airing on December 28th 2009. The new reality show featuring 16 “beautiful yet fierce” female MMA fighters isn’t Fight Girls 2, but rather a new series to air on NBC called Ultimate Women Challenge. The show will include many well known names in women’s MMA, including Felice Herrig and Julie Kedzie. As of October 19th, producers were still filming. Angela Magana was set to film during that week, most likely with either Cristiane Cyborg Santos or Cesar Gracie. For a full list of women rumored to be on the show, see below:
